MULL HISTORICAL SOCIETY ‘WHERE ARE THE HEROES?‘ – VIDEO PREMIERE
Delighted to announce the new single from ‘In My Mind There’s A Photograph’ — due for release on 29 May and now available to order via LNFG — my 10th studio record, it features lyrical contributions from a cast of world-leading authors, all of whom were asked to reflect on a significant photo to them.
On ‘Where Are The Heroes?’ I’ve put the music and additional words to the reflections of the award-winning nature/travel writer & journalist, Dan Richards (‘Holloway’, ‘Outpost’, ‘The Beechwood Airship Interviews’), which have been inspired by the below vintage photograph of his grandfather, Bob, who worked on the Great Western Travelling Post Office. Portraying Dan’s grandfather as hero of the postal (ghostal) night trains. I feel given the disheartening way the world is being led right now, we need a few genuine heroes.
Bob’s overnight mail train adventures (and this photograph) feature in my new book Overnight which is currently Observer book of the week.
For the video, my love of silent movie heroes then took over…
